How to Seduce a Genius

How to Seduce a Genius

Welcome back to Hot Heroine Summer, Besties! Gosh, can you believe we’re already into August? Summer is slipping past faster than I can keep up, not that I’m complaining, especially not if it gets us to Spooky Season quicker-Steady on to October, lads! The spirit of Halloween Store is already open here, but I have as yet resisted the urge go in. I don’t wanna get all those cozy, autumnal, Halloween vibes and then have to go get smacked in the face with more sunny, steamy, 95 degree, 137% humidity, midwestern summer-BLEK!

So anyway, today we’re heading out for a steamy summer night in Regent City…

The Probability of Fun

The evening air in Regent City was thick with the scent of grilled street corn, fermented yeast, and too many bodies pressing together under strings of warm fairy lights. The annual Arts & Flavors Festival had taken over the downtown promenade, turning the usual concrete canyon into a pulsing maze of vendor tents, live music stages, and pop-up bars. Exactly the kind of environment Kit Brookes would have happily observed from behind a thick pane of laboratory glass.

Instead, she was in it.

Kit forced herself to attend exactly one co-worker happy hour/hang/let’s-grab-a-drink per quarter, because the data was unambiguous: chronic social isolation carried a mortality risk comparable to smoking fifteen cigarettes a day, and she refused to ignore peer-reviewed evidence simply because small talk made her skin crawl.

And because, even though it’d been that way her entire life…she’d never reveled in being “the weird one.”

They had just walked away from one of the beer vendors, Kit trailing at the rear of the Inventex group, holding a frothy, craft IPA she hadn’t wanted and definitely didn’t plan to finish. Her usual work attire— sensible charcoal slacks and a crisp white blouse, tonight with two buttons acceptably unbuttoned— clung a little too warmly to her skin in the humid air. The fabric stretched across her chest in a way that always made her self-conscious because no matter how modestly she dressed, her ample bosom refused to be ignored. The slacks hugged the generous curve of her hips and backside just enough to draw occasional glances, which she pretended not to notice.

Around her, the rest of the little crew laughed too loudly, loosened by alcohol and the festive atmosphere. Sarah from Analytical Chemistry was gesturing wildly about her latest dating disaster. Donald from Formulation kept trying to rope people into some “team-building” drinking game. And Kit smiled politely when eyes drifted her way, nodded at the right beats, and said as little as possible. She’d even let her deep auburn hair down for the occasion, yet she still felt completely out of place.

Statistically speaking, she thought, the probability of meaningful social connection at an event like this is less than twelve percent. The probability I embarrass myself is closer to seventy-eight…and I mean seriously, how weird do I have to be to be the weird one in a building of chemists, biochemists, scientists, analytics experts and statistical researchers?

She adjusted her grip on the plastic cup, considered taking a drink then instead began plotting her exit. Forty-seven minutes already, maybe another twelve to sixteen (it couldn’t be too clean of a duration or it’d seem calculated) and then she could cite having “early morning lab calibrations” as an excuse to leave.

A warm breeze fluttered over her blouse, pressing the thin fabric against her breasts for a moment. She tugged in response to keep it from outlining her shape too clearly, cheeks warming. I could be home right now, reviewing the latest colloidal stability data on that new recombinant protein formulation system. Or rereading that paper on neurotransmitter modulation, or—oh! I think my Tom Strong trade was delivered today.

Of course, none of that was really true because if she wasn’t here, she wouldn’t actually be at home anyway. She’d be at her secret headquarters and laboratory in that storage unit on the east side of downtown. Or out on patrol as Hyper Star, trying to do some good in this city…

Instead, she was here, clutching a drink she  didn’t want, calculating escape vectors like a nervous spy in enemy territory.

She scanned the crowd again on reflex, and noticed a man watching her… maybe a little too closely.

He was tall, with warm golden-brown skin that almost seemed to glow under the festival lights. Thick, dark hair fell across his forehead in effortless waves. Sharp cheekbones, a strong jaw, and dark brown eyes that held hers with calm, unmistakable interest. He wore a tailored black linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up over powerful forearms, the top two buttons undone just enough to show the hollow of his throat and a glint of a simple silver chain. A professional camera hung from a strap around his neck, but he wasn’t shooting at the moment. He was simply… looking.

At her.

Kit’s stomach did a strange little flip. She glanced away quickly, heart rate spiking. Don’t be ridiculous. He’s probably looking at someone behind you. But when she risked another peek, he was still there…and now the corner of his mouth had curved into a smile.

It was the kind of smile that triggered an irrational flush of hormones. A sudden, unwelcome warmth bloomed low in her belly and spread upward, prickling across her chest and cheeks. Her pulse jumped, a traitorous little flutter she could feel in her throat.

This is completely irrational. One handsome stranger shouldn’t elicit a measurable neuroendocrine response this fast, her brain immediately protested as her body betrayed her. A simple Oxytocin and dopamine surge from visual stimuli. It’s just evolutionary wiring. Symmetrical features signaling genetic fitness. Nothing more. Well, maybe some really good lighting…is this what they call golden hour? What the hell, one smile and my limbic system decides to stage a coup.

Yet her body wasn’t listening to the data. The flush deepened. She pressed her thighs together subtly, mortified by the faint, unwelcome throb of awareness between them. She forced her gaze downward into her drink, willing the reaction to subside.

It didn’t work.

And that handsome stranger had started moving towards her through the crowd.

Kit’s mind spun into overdrive. Okay. Strategy. Polite smile, minimal engagement, graceful extraction…ninety seconds for him to realize I’m too weird to hit on. She took a nervous gulp of that bright, bitter, earthy craft beer and tried to look absorbed in the booth they were passing, which seemed to be selling…Bone broth popsicles?? Wait, really?

“Have you figured it out yet?” the man asked. He spoke in a low, smooth voice with the faintest lilting accent.

Kit startled despite having seen him coming, her blue eyes snapping to his. He stepped in close enough for her to catch the faint scent of sandalwood and citrus wafting off of him. She opened her mouth to say something witty about bone broth popsicles… Unfortunately, her genius level intellect wasn’t actually calibrated for wit, so instead her mouth just closed, opened, then closed again without anything coherent ever coming out.

Up close he was even more striking, the kind of face that belonged on billboards. And he must have been used to rendering women speechless, because just waited, those dark, steady eyes drifting over her face, then lower for the briefest appreciative second before returning to hers.

“Figured what out?” Kit eventually managed to ask.

His smile deepened, warm and unhurried. “Exactly how many more minutes until you can leave without seeming rude to your, I assume, coworkers?”

Kit almost blanched slightly and clutched her beer a little tighter. “Is it that obvious?”

“Oh no,” he said quickly, “You’re doing a tremendous impression of someone who actually wants to be here. I just happen to be a professional observer…” He gestured slightly with the camera around his neck.

“Well, you’ve uncovered my secret,” she managed, voice a little higher than usual, “I am… not great at these things.”

“In my experience, the people who think they are ‘great at these things’ tend to be insufferable at them,” he said with a shrug, then offered his hand. “Arjun Rao.”

“Katherine Brookes.”

His fingers were warm, strong, and when they closed around hers, the touch lingered half a second longer than strictly necessary, thumb brushing once across her knuckles in a slow, deliberate stroke that made her breath catch.

Kit swallowed, an unexpected spark racing up her arm.

Oh no.

Arjun’s gaze flicked over her shoulder toward the Inventex cluster. Sarah was still gesturing and Donald was already scanning for their next round of drinks.

“Did you know…” Arjun leaned in conspiratorially, his faint accent curling around the words. “Talking to a handsome man is always an acceptable excuse to leave a group?”

Kit darted a glance back at her coworkers, then mirrored Arjun’s lean in, “Is that so?”

“Oh yes,” he said, that neurochemically stimulative smile sharpening. “They’ll enjoy the gossip tomorrow far more than your company tonight.”

Kit probably should have laughed it off and returned to the safety of forced small talk. Instead, she felt the tight coil of social obligation loosen just a fraction.

“Well,” she replied quietly. “You are the professional.” Now she extended her hand.

Arjun took it without hesitation, that smile deepening. “Then let’s go.”

The Flavor of Art

“Hey, guys,” Kit called at Arjun’s urging, “Go on ahead, I’ll catch up.”

Sarah’s eyes flared wide and round as dinner plates as they flicked from Kit to Arjun and back. Donald said something about meeting up at the next bar tent. The rest of the Inventex team started to chime in with varying degrees of acknowledgement, but Arjun was guiding Kit away before it could become an actual conversation.

She almost couldn’t believe how quickly and easily it happened. His hand fell lightly against the small of her back, warm through the thin fabric of her blouse and steered her away. Fingers splayed just enough that she felt each one. Heat bloomed under her skin as the noise of her coworkers faded behind them. The touch was polite, almost casual, but it stayed even once they’d escaped into the larger crowds.

He led her through the festival lights toward a quieter row of art stalls. Arjun kept the conversation easy at first, asking about her work in a way that felt genuine. Kit found herself explaining what an analytic biomedical pharmacology researcher was for far longer than she meant to, cheeks warming by the time she noticed the glazed look in Arjun’s eyes.

“So you’re like, an actual genius,” he said softly when Kit forced back another drink of her beer to shut herself up.

“I have…” Kit had always cringed at the word genius, “…a predisposition to excel at intellectually intensive fields.”

“And you hide it behind all that nervousness?”

“I don’t…hide…anything,” She protested. “People find it off-putting. The rambling. The intensity.” Then she added quieter. “Like you just did.”

“I did not,” he sounded genuine. “Not that I was able to follow everything you were saying…but I do appreciate your…predisposition.”

Kit’s eyes darted away. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe him, but she’d seen that glassy look countless times in her life, whenever she began talking about her work, or a subject she’d been researching, or comic books, or…or any time she let her mind run her mouth unfiltered, really.

“What about you?” she asked. “What are you predisposed to?”

What are you doing, Kit? Flirting? Trying to? By saying “predisposed” over and over? Goodness…You’ve got better things to do and things you’re better at to do. You don’t owe him twelve minutes, so make some polite excuse and leave before you embarrass yourself even more…

Arjun had stopped in front of a sculpture, twisted metal-and-glass catching the string lights. He tilted his head toward the statue. “What do you think of this piece?”

Kit stepped closer, studying the way the facets caught and fractured the light. “The angles are precise,” she said. “The way they’re cut creates multiple refraction points. Depending on the composition of the glass, which is likely a high-lead crystal based on the refractive index and the way the light scatters, the reflectivity is enhanced in a way that produces those secondary rainbows. The metal armature is designed to minimize shadow interference so the optical effect stays clean.”

Arjun laughed, the sound low and rich. “That mind of yours is truly brilliant.” He looked at her with open appreciation, then corrected, “But how does it make you feel?”

Kit blinked. The question landed differently than she expected. Feel? She stared at the sculpture again, forcing her brain to stop cataloguing angles and alloys. Which was…tough. For a moment the noise of the festival faded. The fractured light moved across the metal in slow, liquid waves. Something about the way the sharp edges still managed to look fluid stirred something quiet and unexpected stirred under her ribs: a small, almost shy sense of wonder. Of beauty that didn’t need to be measured to matter, that refused to be neat, that insisted on existing in pieces.

“It feels… restless,” she said finally, almost surprised by her own voice. “Like it’s trying to hold still and can’t. Like it’s beautiful because it keeps changing and doesn’t apologize for it.”

Arjun watched her face the entire time. When she finished, he gave a small, satisfied nod.  “I can see it,” he murmured. “That is my predisposition, I don’t look with just my eyes.”

His fingers brushed the bare skin on the back of her hand, as if the contact were the most natural thing in the world. Kit’s breath hitched. The touch was casual. Innocent, almost. But it lingered. His fingertips were warm, slightly calloused, and they sent a trail of goosebumps up her arm. Kit’s whole body tensed, but for some reason…she didn’t pull away.

Then she surprised herself by asking, “What about you? What does it make you feel?”

Arjun’s gaze drifted back to the sculpture, the fractured light shifting across his features. He was quiet for a long moment.

“It makes me feel like I’m allowed to look at something beautiful without needing to own it or explain it,” he said finally. His voice was soft, almost private. “Just… stand still and let it happen to me.” He glanced at her again, dark eyes warm. “Like a beauty that forces me to notice.”

The words settled between them, heavier than the warm night air. Kit’s pulse fluttered in her throat. Fortunately—thankfully, Arjun went on before she had to figure out what to say next.

“So, Katherine,” the way he said her name had the same effect on her hormones as his smile did. “You have escaped your colleagues, and given me enough conversation to be polite. I won’t make you come up with some excuse now if you’re ready to leave and retreat to your safe spaces, wherever they may be…But if you would like to stay just a little longer, perhaps I can help you to see, and maybe feel, a little more of this festival, maybe expand your predispositions some.”

Kit’s mind immediately started calculating the risk of impending awkwardness. The probability that this handsome stranger was simply being polite—ZERO. The higher probability was that she was about to make a fool of herself one way or another. She should decline. She should thank him for the rescue and return to the safety of her headquarters, the mission of her lab, the city needed Hyper Star…

But the quiet sense of wonder the sculpture had stirred in her was still there, fragile and unexpected. And standing this close to him, close enough to catch the faint scent of sandalwood and citrus again—she felt something else too. Something warm and restless and entirely uncharacteristic; Nervous. Intrigued. Excited in a way that made her stomach tighten.

She looked up at him, blue eyes uncertain but honest.

“…I’d like to stay a little longer,” she said.

Arjun’s smile deepened, slow and pleased.

“Good,” he answered. “Then let’s go find something else that insists on being noticed.”

Hands-On Research

They moved deeper into the festival, away from the louder music and into a quieter stretch of temporary installations and make-shift galleries. The string lights glowed softer here, or maybe it was just the overall atmosphere. The air still smelled of warm pavement, and the faint metallic tang of the exhaust and the city.

At first Kit still defaulted to analysis. She caught herself cataloguing materials, estimating weight loads, noting how certain pieces used negative space. But each time her mind began to race, she remembered Arjun’s question—How does it make you feel?—and deliberately tried to stop.

It was harder than she expected.

Kit stood in front of a brushed steel form that twisted upward like a frozen flame and forced herself to simply look. As her gaze traced up the curves, they felt almost alive, as if the sculpture were actually in motion. Something low and quiet stirred in her chest—restlessness, maybe, or…the strange ache of wanting something she couldn’t name.

Next they passed a kinetic installation of suspended copper leaves shifting in the warm night air. Rather than calculating wind resistance and tensile strength, Kit noticed the soft metallic chime they made. The way the sound settled that restless something in her chest.

Arjun didn’t rush her. He stayed close but not crowding, the light press of his fingers at the small of her back once more guiding her around a cluster of people, the briefest brush of his forearm against hers when they stopped to look at the same piece. Occasionally, he  pointed out a detail in that low, accented voice, each time somehow feeling more like an invitation.

A series of large-scale photographs of empty city streets at dawn made Kit pause for longer than she’d have expected. The loneliness in them was almost physical. And he didn’t even try to analyze their liminal horror motif; she just sat with it.

As Kit leaned into the practice of feeling rather than measuring, other usual defenses began to loosen by degrees. The constant internal narration quieted. Her shoulders dropped. She became more present in her own body—aware of the warm night air against her face, the soft brush of her blouse when she moved, but mostly—the proximity of the handsome stranger walking beside her.

By the time they reached the end of the art walk, Arjun’s touches had begun lingering more and more. The contact intentional, and lasting longer than necessary, and yet… Kit didn’t seem to mind.

“Here,” he said, when they reached a quiet bench tucked at the edge of the festival grounds. “Sit with me for a minute.”

Kit hesitated a long second before joining him, knees pressed primly together, hands folded in her lap around her half-empty plastic cup.

They were half-hidden behind a cluster of glowing paper lanterns and a low hedge of flowering jasmine. The music and crowd noise had softened to a distant hum, the humid night air thick with the sweet scent of the flowers and the faint citrus-sandalwood of Arjun’s skin. He gestured toward the bench with a small tilt of his head.

This is statistically unwise, her brain supplied unhelpfully. You have known this man for twenty-three minutes.

The stone was cool through her slacks. Arjun moved close enough that their thighs nearly touched. He didn’t speak right away, stretching one long arm along the back of the bench behind her shoulders, not touching, but close enough that she could feel the warmth of it.

“You’re quieter,” he observed.

“I’m… trying,” she admitted.

“In a good way?”

“It’s a little strange,” Kit smiled faintly, avoiding his eyes. “Not thinking so hard. Or…rambling.”

His hand found her knee, warm and heavy, but unhurried. It just settled, thumb beginning a slow, absent sweep against the fabric of her slacks. The touch was light enough to be polite and intimate enough to make her breath catch.

“Nothing wrong with strange,” his voice dropped lower. “Even the most powerful mind can revel in quiet…don’t you think?”

Kit’s pulse fluttered. She should have shifted away. Instead she stayed perfectly still, hyper-aware of every point of contact between his hand and her leg. Arjun’s fingers drifted a fraction higher, still slow, still testing.

“Yes,” Kit swallowed, “Quiet can be good.”

Arjun’s hand remained on her thigh, warm and steady, as the festival lights glowed around them and the night stretched open in front of her. The slow stroke of his thumb continued, each pass sending a quiet ripple of heat through her.

Kit’s mind tried to surface—statistics, risks, the fact that she barely knew this man—but the quiet she had been practicing all evening was already keeping those thoughts at bay. For once, she let the sensation exist without immediately dissecting it.

His dark eyes studied her in the low light, patient and unhurried, like he was framing a shot. “I can see the calculations scrolling behind your eyes.”

Kit let out a nervous little laugh, tucking a loose strand of auburn hair behind her ear. “It’s a hazard of my job…and just, being me, I guess. Overanalyzing is basically my default setting.”

He smiled, slow and knowing. “Then let me give you something else to focus on.”

“Arjun—” Kit swallowed hard as his fingers drifted higher, tracing the seam of her slacks with one slow, deliberate stroke. The pressure was light, teasing, but it sent a sudden, liquid heat pooling low in her belly. Her thighs pressed together instinctively, trapping his hand for a heartbeat before she forced them to relax.

“I’m not—I don’t—”

“Shh.” Arjun didn’t pull away. His thumb kept circling, steady and hypnotic. “Just breathe, Katherine. You’re safe here.”

The way he said her name, with that smooth accent, and almost like he was tasting something delicious, made the tension in her chest uncoil. She glanced down at his hand, then back up at his face. He simply let his palm rest heavier against her inner thigh, thumb still moving in those slow, gradual arcs, now dangerously close to where the seam dipped between her legs.

Maybe she should have moved his hand. Should have stood up and taken his offer to retreat to her safe spaces… Instead Kit remained perfectly still, pulse thundering in her throat, feeling every millimeter of contact. His thumb traced wider motions now, inching higher along the inside of her thigh, still outside her clothing but pressing just enough that the fabric shifted against her skin.

“You have beautiful legs,” he said conversationally, as if commenting on the weather.

Kit’s cheeks burned. She could feel herself getting wet — a slow, undeniable slickness soaking into her panties — and the realization made her want to die of embarrassment and arousal at the same time.

This isn’t me. I don’t do this. I’m the girl who stays in the lab, not—not—not—

But his hand stayed right there, patient and confident, fingers flexing just enough to press the seam of her slacks against her aching center. Not rubbing. Not groping. Just holding, letting the anticipation build until she had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from making a sound.

“You’re thinking so loudly I can almost hear it,” he murmured against the shell of her ear, breath warm. “All those thoughts telling you to run. But your body isn’t listening, is it?”

A tiny whimper escaped her before she could stop it. Her hips shifted, barely, pressing into his hand for the briefest second before she caught herself. Arjun’s smile curved against her temple.

“That’s it,” he whispered. “Let yourself feel it. No calculations. Just this.”

His fingers traced the seam again — slower this time, firmer — dragging upward until the pressure settled right where she was starting to throb. He cupped her there through the slacks, palm warm and broad, not moving, just claiming the heat of her. Kit’s breath came shallow and quick. She could feel her nipples tightening in the cups of her bra, her heavy breasts rising and falling with each shaky inhale.

“I… I don’t do this,” she whispered, voice breathy and uncertain. “I’ve never… with someone I just met…in p-p-public…”

Arjun’s thumb pressed a slow, deliberate circle directly over her clit through the layers of fabric. Her hips jerked once, involuntarily.

“Tonight you do,” he said simply, lips brushing the sensitive skin just beneath her ear. “Look at me, Kit.”

She did. His dark eyes were hooded, intense, drinking in every flustered reaction like it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever framed. His hand stayed exactly where it was, feeling heavy, warm, and insistent, thumb moving in those lazy, devastating circles while the rest of him remained perfectly composed.

“Are you already getting wet for me?” he murmured, so low only she could hear.

Kit’s head fell back against the bench with a soft gasp. Her mind — that brilliant, racing, overthinking mind — was finally, blissfully, helplessly quiet. All that existed was the slow, relentless pressure of his hand between her thighs, the low timbre of his voice, and the way he watched her like she was the only thing worth seeing in the entire festival.

She didn’t pull away.

She leaned in.

Kit’s world had narrowed to the cool, stone bench, the golden spill of string lights, and the devastating weight of Arjun’s hand cupped firmly between her thighs.

She was soaked. Embarrassingly, shamefully soaked. The seam of her slacks was dark with it, the slick heat of her arousal pressing back against his palm with every tiny, involuntary shift of her hips.

Arjun watched her like he was memorizing every detail for a private exhibition. His thumb continued, slow and relentless, pressing the damp fabric against her swelling clit with just enough pressure to make her breath stutter. His free hand came up, fingers gently tilting her chin so she had to meet his gaze.

“You’re allowed to want this, Katherine,” he murmured, voice velvet and smoke. “You’re allowed to feel good without running the numbers first.”

“I… I-I know…I do, I just…don’t,” she whispered. Her blue eyes were glassy, cheeks flushed dark. “I’ve never…” A broken little sound escaped her.

Arjun leaned in, slow enough that she could have pulled away.

She didn’t.

Their first kiss was soft. Almost tender. His lips warm and sure against hers. Kit’s eyes fluttered shut. For three full seconds she stayed perfectly still, stunned by the gentle heat of it.

Then…she made a small, needy noise and kissed him back, clumsy at first, opening as his tongue traced the seam of her lips. The hand between her thighs pressed harder, fingers rubbing slow, firm strokes along her seam now, dragging the soaked fabric back and forth over her aching pussy. Kit moaned into his mouth, thighs trembling, one hand flying up to clutch the front of his linen shirt.

Arjun groaned softly in response, the sound vibrating through her. He kissed her like he had all night, deep and unhurried, while his fingers worked her through her clothes with delicious patience. The heel of his palm ground against her clit. Two fingers pressed along either side of her slit, squeezing gently, rhythmically, until she was rocking against his hand without thinking.

When he finally pulled back for air, his forehead rested against hers. His voice was rougher now, that accent thickening with want.

“Look at you,” he breathed. “And you still think you’re not the kind of woman who does this?”

“I’m not,” she whimpered, even as her hips rolled again, chasing the pressure. “I’ve never— God, Arjun—”

His mouth claimed hers again, hungrier this time. His hand slid higher, fingers working the button of her slacks open with practiced ease. The zipper whispered down. Then his hand slipped inside — under the waistband of her panties — and the first direct touch of his fingers against her bare, dripping folds made her cry out against his lips.

“Fuck,” he groaned quietly, two thick fingers gliding through her slick heat. “You’re drenched, Katherine.”

She was. Embarrassingly so. Her head fell forward against his shoulder as he stroked her slowly, spreading her wetness, circling her swollen clit with maddening precision. Every pass drew another soft, broken sound from her throat. Her heavy breasts heaved with each ragged breath, nipples visibly hard even through her bra and blouse.

“I don’t do this,” she gasped again, almost like a prayer, even as her thighs parted wider for him. “I don’t hook up—I’ve never even gone home with— with someone I just met—”

Arjun kissed the corner of her mouth, then her jaw, then the sensitive spot beneath her ear while his fingers kept working her closer and closer to the edge.

“Tonight you do,” he whispered, the words hot against her skin. “Tonight you’re going to come on my fingers right here, then you’re going to let me take you back to my apartment and fuck you properly—”

The filthy promise, delivered in that smooth, accented voice, snapped something inside her.

Kit came with a choked cry, grabbing his forearm hard, thighs clamping around his hand, pussy clenching his fingers as pleasure crashed through her in sharp, overwhelming waves.

Arjun kept stroking her through it, murmuring soft praise against her hair , “That’s it… good girl… let it happen…” — until she was trembling and slumped into him.  When he withdrew his hand, slowly. She watched, dazed, as he brought his glistening fingers to his mouth and licked them clean, dark eyes never holding hers.

“Come home with me, Katherine,” he said, voice low and certain. Not a question.

Maybe she should have said “no”.

Instead she nodded, voice barely a whisper.

“Okay.”

The Futon Hypothesis

The walk from the festival was only ten minutes, but it felt like an eternity of delicious torment.

Kit’s panties were soaked through, she could feel the obscene squish between her thighs with every step, a constant, mortifying reminder of what she’d let Arjun do to her on a public bench. Her face burned. She had untucked and now constantly tugged at the hem of her blouse, trying to hide the dark wet spot on her slacks, which she was absolutely certain every other passerby could see under the streetlights.

Arjun walked calmly beside her, one hand resting possessively at the small of her back to keep her moving, and to keep her overactive mind from reactivating. He spoke gently, mostly soft comments about the view or the breeze, and every time Kit glanced at him, his dark eyes were warm with promise.

The apartment where Arjun was staying was a lovely little third-floor walk-up, actually belonging to one of his photographer friends, who was shooting in Europe for the summer. Exposed brick walls, warm wood floors, large windows looking out at the city, it was actually a breathtaking view. A single lamp cast a soft amber glow across the living room when Arjun let them in. It smelled faintly of sandalwood incense and clean linen.

The door clicked shut behind them.

Kit stood in the middle of the room, arms wrapped around herself, suddenly hyper-aware of everything. The way her rich auburn hair fell around her shoulders. Her flushed cheeks. The unmistakable dampness still cooling between her legs. She felt ridiculous, a brilliant scientist—not to mention a budding superheroine— who’d just let a near-stranger finger her to orgasm in public, now standing here like a nervous virgin on prom night.

“This is a very nice…place…It’s really-err-um…” she stammered, voice small, “but I… I should probably—”

Arjun crossed the room in two strides and gently caught her wrists, pulling them away from her chest. “Katherine, you did not walk all this way,” he murmured, that accent wrapping around her like warmed up honey, “to leave now…did you?”

His expression was patient, but his eyes were so dark and hungry she couldn’t form a coherent sentence. Her head shook faintly, a side-to-side jerk that barely ruffled her hair.

“Are you embarrassed,” he asked softly, “because your pretty little pussy is still dripping down your thighs?”

Kit made a mortified sound and tried to look away, but he cupped her jaw, keeping her gaze on him.

“No, I am teasing,” He leaned in, lips brushing her ear. “I loved how soaked you got for me. How you rode my fingers even while your brilliant mind was telling you not to.”

His hands moved to the top button of her blouse. One by one, he undid them with deliberate slowness, letting it fall open to reveal the pale nude bra holding the generous swell of her breasts. He exhaled, sharply appreciative.

“Look at you…” He hummed cupping one heavy breast, thumb stroking her nipple over the fabric, which stiffened immediately. “So full. So perfect. You hide under such dowdy clothes, but your body is amazing, made to be touched. To be savored.”

Kit whimpered, nipples tightening further under his attention. A familiar spiral of overthinking tried to surface, This is reckless —probability of regret, social risk, the sheer uncharacteristic nature of— Arjun’s fingers traced the line of her collarbone, then slipped the blouse from her shoulders with deliberate care. As it fell to the floor, he then reached behind to unhook her bra.

You’re not the kind of woman who—As the clasp gave way, Kit exhaled without meaning to, her nervous system seemed to exhale with her, and the anxious chatter in her head softened into stillness.

Arjun guided the straps down her shoulders, the freedom across her chest loosened more than just fabric, her breasts spilled free, heavy, soft, rosy nipples begging for attention.

Arjun groaned, the sound almost reverent. She offered him a dizzy, bashful smile, cheeks flushed, eyes a little unfocused. One hand came up to cup her jaw, thumb stroking the edge of her mouth as he guided her into a slow, deep kiss. At the same time his other hand closed over her breast, massaging the full, sensitive flesh in deep, rolling motions that sent sparks straight through her. She gasped into his mouth, the sound soft and startled, like she couldn’t quite believe what she was letting him do. Her body arched helplessly toward him, rising up onto her toes as if she could somehow get closer still.

When Arjun pulled away, she swayed unsteadily every overactive synapse shorted out. He sank to his knees in front of her like he was worshipping. His hands smoothed down her sides, thumbs hooking into the waistband of her slacks. He peeled them down slowly, dragging the soaked fabric over her hips and thighs. The cool air hit her drenched panties and she shivered hard. Arjun paused, staring at the dark, wet patch covering her mound. He leaned in and pressed a slow, open-mouthed kiss right over the soaked fabric, breathing her in.

“So fucking wet,” he whispered against her, voice rough. “You made such a mess for me. Look how your panties are clinging to this pretty pussy.”

Kit’s hands flew to his shoulders, half mortified, half desperate. “Arjun… I—”

“Shhh.” He hooked his fingers in the waistband and dragged her panties down too, exposing her completely. Trimmed auburn curls above glistening, puffy pink folds still shiny with her arousal. He helped her step out of everything, leaving her standing there naked; sexy curves, heavy breasts, wide hips, and trembling thighs, lit in the soft amber lamplight.

He stayed on his knees for a moment, hands running up the backs of her legs, squeezing the generous curve of her ass.

“You are truly stunning,” he said, voice low and sincere. “Every inch of you. These hips… these thighs… this beautiful wet cunt that’s still dripping because of me.” He pressed another kiss to her mound, then looked up at her with those intense dark eyes. “I’m going to taste every part of you tonight, Katherine. I’m going to make you come until you forget how to think. Until the only word you remember is my name.”

Kit’s breath hitched, a fresh rush of wetness slicking her inner thighs. Her hands tightened in his hair. “Kit…” she mumbled, “Everyone just calls me Kit…”

Arjun chuckled, rising slowly, towering over her again, still fully dressed while she stood completely bare and exposed. He pulled her close, one hand sliding between her legs to cup her soaked pussy possessively, two fingers gliding through her folds without entering her yet.

“Tell me you want this, Katherine,” he whispered against her lips. “Tell me you want me to fuck you senseless.”

Arjun’s fingers were still gliding lazily through her soaked folds, teasing her entrance without pushing inside, when Kit made a soft, shaky decision.

“I want this,” she whispered with an audible gulp, and shaky nod.

He smiled. Just that. A quiet, knowing curve of his mouth.

The sight of it triggered Kit’s body to respond before her mind could interfere again. Dopamine surged. Her pulse jumped. Heat flooded her belly so low and fast it almost made her dizzy. She could have map the pathways firing. Then the science stopped mattering. All that remained was need.

She sank to her knees right there on the warm wood floor, hands sliding down his chest, then lower, until her fingers brushed the hard outline straining against his dark jeans. Her blue eyes flicked up to his face, she was nervous, uncertain, cheeks burning crimson.

“I… I don’t do this very often,” Kit whispered, voice barely a breath. “I’m not very good at—”

Arjun cupped her jaw gently, thumb stroking her soft, plump, lower lip. “You don’t have to be good, Katherine,” that smooth accent purred, “You just have to want it. And right now, I can see how much you do.”

He helped her open his jeans, pushing them down just enough for his cock to spring free — thick, long, the warm golden-brown skin flushed darker at the head, a bead of precum already glistening. Kit’s breath caught. He was bigger than she’d expected, heavy and perfect in her hand as she wrapped her fingers around the base.

She leaned in slowly, almost hesitantly, and pressed a soft, tentative kiss to the tip. Then another. Her tongue darted out, tasting salt, and warmth, and masculinity.

Arjun groaned at the experimental lick, one hand sliding into her auburn hair, not pulling, just resting there. “That’s it, baby… just like that. Taste me. There is no rush.”

Encouraged by the low praise, Kit grew a little bolder. She licked a slow stripe up the underside of his shaft, savoring the velvet heat of him, then swirled her tongue around the head. She took him into her mouth — just the tip at first — sucking gently, cheeks hollowing as she experimented with pressure and rhythm.

“You have no idea how sexy you look right now,” Arjun groaned, eyes half-lidded, watching her with raw hunger. “So pretty on your knees with my cock in your mouth.”

Kit moaned around him, the vibration making his hips twitch, and the soft sound of his praise sent a fresh rush of heat between her thighs. She took him deeper, inch by inch, her tongue working carefully along the underside as she bobbed slowly. Her hand stroked what she couldn’t fit, twisting gently, a little uncertain.

She was still nervous. Still clumsy in places. This wasn’t something she had much practice with, and some distant part of her was acutely aware of every small hesitation, every imperfect angle.

But her scientific mind, which had fought her so just a few moments earlier, began working for her now.

She paid attention.

When she flattened her tongue and dragged it slowly up the underside, his breath hitched. When she hollowed her cheeks and sucked a little harder at the head, his fingers tightened in her hair. When she took him just a fraction deeper and hummed, his hips jumped again.

Kit catalogued each reaction with quiet focus, adjusting, experimenting. A little more pressure here. A slower swirl there. The overthinking tried to creep back in—Am I doing this right? Does this feel good? What if I’m terrible at—but this time the questions weren’t paralyzing. She was gathering data in real time, refining her technique with every soft groan and flex of his fingers. She might not have been experienced, but she was a fast learner. And right now, with his cock heavy on her tongue and his eyes locked on her, she wanted nothing more than to get this right.

Fuuuck…You’re doing so well,” Arjun praised, voice rougher now. “Like you were made for it. That’s my good girl… let yourself enjoy it. Feel how hard I am for you? How much I want you?”

The words melted something inside her, the scientific reasoning quieting once more as something primal and lustful took hold. Kit’s eyes fluttered half-closed as she relaxed her throat, taking him even deeper as best she could. She began to lose herself in it — the weight of him on her tongue, the musky scent of his skin, the way his abs flexed every time she sucked harder. Her heavy breasts swayed with each movement, nipples tight and aching. She could feel herself dripping again, thighs getting slick.

She pulled off for a moment, gasping softly, strings of saliva connecting her lips to his glistening cock. Looking up at him with wide blue eyes, she stroked him firmly with one hand while her tongue teased the sensitive underside.

“I… I like this,” she admitted breathlessly, voice husky. “I like how you taste. How you feel—”

“Then don’t stop,” Arjun groaned, cupping the back of her head to guide her back down gently. “Take as much as you want. Use that pretty mouth on me.”

Kit did. She sank down again, taking him even deeper than before, sucking with growing hunger. Her head bobbed faster, wet sounds filling the quiet apartment as her tongue swirled and her hand stroked in rhythm, soft moans vibrating around his thickness. She let herself get lost in it now, eyes watering slightly, never breaking contact for long, her own arousal dripping steadily between her thighs as she pleasured him.

A slick burst of precum spilled across her tongue—salty, slightly sweet, distinctly him. Kit’s eyes fluttered in surprise, the taste hit her like a quiet detonation. Heat spiked hard between her legs. Her thighs clenched. A soft, involuntary sound of hunger escaped around his cock as she swallowed and immediately took him deeper again, chasing more of it.

It was almost intoxicating.

That simple, intimate flavor sent another heavy pulse of arousal through her, sharper and more primal than before. She sucked harder, greedier, tongue working to draw out every drop, the scientific part of her mind dimly noting the intensity of her own reaction even as the rest of her simply wanted.

Arjun’s breathing grew ragged, his hand tightening in her hair. “Katherine, you’re incredible. So fucking delicious like this…”

He eased her off his cock with a gentle tug. Thick, shiny ropes of saliva and precum streamed between her swollen lips and the glistening head of his cock as she looked up at him, eyes glassy with lust, luscious chest heaving. He pulled her up and kissed her again, tasting himself on her tongue, then walked her backward toward the futon, already unfolded beneath the tall windows.

“I need to be inside you,” he growled softly, that accent seeming to deepen.

Kit’s heart hammered as he laid her down on the messy sheets covering the thin cushion, her naked body fully exposed under his hungry gaze. The city lights spilled through the room, painting everything in soft neon and gold.

Arjun shed the rest of his clothes in seconds, revealing a sculpted body with broad shoulders, defined abs, and that thick, heavy cock curving proudly under his stomach, still slick from her mouth. He crawled over her, settling between her spread thighs. He nudged against her soaked entrance, sliding along her puffy, dripping folds and coating himself in her wetness.

Kit squirmed beneath him, grabbing his shoulders and gasping a few short breaths as the sensation rippled through her hips, then up into her torso. Her chest heaved with one anxious breath, her nipples twinging in anticipation.

“Tell me you want it,” he whispered, brushing a kiss over her lips, then her jaw, then the swell of one heavy breast. He sucked a stiff nipple into his mouth, tongue flicking as he waited.

Kit whimpered, back arching. “I want it… please, Arjun…I- I- I’m ready…”

He pushed inside her in one slow, relentless thrust. Kit cried out sharply, nails digging into his shoulders. He was big — stretching her slick walls wide, filling her so completely she felt him in her belly. Arjun groaned against her breast, hips rocking gently as he worked himself deeper until he was buried to the hilt, balls pressed against her ass.

“Fuck…” his voice came out tight, breathy. “Katherine, you are so tight. So fucking wet and hot…” He started moving in slow, deep strokes that dragged immediately against her G-spot.

Kit’s head fell back, auburn hair spilling across the pillow, the sensation immediately overwhelming.

“This pretty cunt was made for me tonight.”

Her legs wrapped around his waist as pleasure built fast. She was gasping, moaning, little cries escaping with every deep plunge— vaguely aware of the sounds she was making, thinking they were too loud, too needy… Some old, sharp corner of her mind wanted to be embarrassed— But then Arjun angled his hips just right and the embarrassment burned away, leaving only stunned, helpless pleasure. Her heavy breasts bounced with each thrust, nipples hard and aching.

Some distant part of her was almost alarmed by how good it felt, but the thought couldn’t hold. It kept dissolving every time he moved inside her. Her overactive mind tried to think, to analyze, to- to- too- much… This is too much— I shouldn’t be able to feel this much— and then collapsed under the scintillating sensations of what he was doing to her.Every time she almost managed a coherent idea, another deep thrust scattered it. Her overthinking was quickly reduced to mental white noise.

Arjun fucked her harder, hooking one of her legs higher over his shoulder, then driving even deeper.

“Oh! Fuck! Arjun!” Kit screamed in ecstatic surprise.

“Look at these gorgeous tits bouncing for me,” he groaned, leaning down to lick and bite at one rosy nipple. “You’re clenching so hard around my cock. Are you going to come already?”

Kit nodded frantically, overwhelmed. The angle, the stretch, the filthy praise — it was too much. Her orgasm hit like a wave, pussy spasming hard around his thick shaft as she cried out, thighs shaking, juices coating his cock and dripping down her ass onto the futon.

Arjun fucked her through it, never slowing, drawing out every pulse until she was a trembling, whimpering mess beneath him.

Then he rolled and flipped them together without even pulling out, settling Kit on top of him before her staticky mind knew what was happening. She braced both hands on his chest—his sculpted, firm, warm, muscular chest, dusted with the exact right amount of dark, surly hair…Fuck…Kit gulped a few deep breaths, suddenly shy again as she realized her new position, heavy breasts swaying freely, wide hips on full display, city lights glowing through the windows above them.

“Ride me, Katherine,” Arjun encouraged, hands gripping her plush ass, guiding her into motion. “Let me watch you take what you want. Show me how much you need this cock.”

Kit bit her lip, nervous but aching, and still a little loopy from her orgasm. She rolled her hips experimentally, uncertain at first, testing the angle. The thick, hard length of him shifted inside her with the movement, a deep, stretching pressure that made her breath hitch. She tried again, slower this time, and felt every inch of him drag against her sensitive walls as she rose and sank back down.

Her analytic mind had gone fuzzy. There was no cataloguing, no careful strategy. Only sensation and instinct.

She felt the way his cock filled her so completely, the heavy thickness of it pulsing inside her with each roll of her hips. When she ground down, the head pressed against something deep and electric that made her spine tingle. When she lifted up, the thick shaft dragged along her inner walls in a slow, exquisite friction that left her dripping around him.

And through it all she tracked him — the jump of his hips beneath her, the flex of his fingers against her thighs, the flutter of his eyelids, the delighted curl of his mouth whenever she found an angle that made him groan.

Kit chased those reactions without thinking, guided only by the feedback of his body and the overwhelming feel of his cock moving inside her. A little more pressure here. A slower, deeper roll there. Every time he responded, something hot and primal in her answered, urging her to take him deeper, to grind harder, to keep that thick length stroking against those places that made her vision blur.

She was learning him by feel, the stretch, the heat, the way he filled her so perfectly — her inexperience rendered irrelevant by pure, hungry instinct. And the more she followed it, the wetter she became, the more natural the motion felt, until she was riding him ardently, chasing every reaction he gave her and every pulse of pleasure his cock spiked through her.

“That’s it… fuck yes… look at…you…” Arjun groaned, eyes dark as he watched her breasts bouncing in torrid rhythm. “So beautiful riding my cock. These perfect tits…so fucking perfect!”

His hand flew up to her chest, grabbing handfuls of her lush bulbs. He squeezed so hard Kit moaned out shamelessly. Her body arched into his grasp, her curvaceous hips stuttering only a moment before continuing their sensuous roll.

Kit’s eyes flicked up for just a beat—a moment long enough to register the city skyline gleaming outside the window. A bright, unexpected thrill rushed down her spine and she clenched hard around Arjun’s cock—he groaned and shuddered between her legs.

“Do you like that?” he asked, that smooth accent now wrecked.

Kit blinked down at him, trying to process the question, “I— huh? Wh- what?”

Arjun kneaded her breasts firm and deliberate, feeling her lean into his grip. His hips rose to meet her motion and they fell into sync.

“Anyone could be watching,” he said, dark eyes darting pointedly towards the window. “From the next building…from a rooftop over…Seeing you on top of me…seeing you riding so lewdly…”

Kit’s hips jumped out sync as the same bright rush trilled through her again. She couldn’t form words, couldn’t respond—just locked eyes with Arjun, her lips parted, her expression shocked, her pussy fluttering with excitement around his throbbing shaft.

Arjun sat up suddenly, wrapping strong arms around her, mouth latching onto a nipple as he thrust up into her.

“I—what? No—oh god, Arjun!” Kit cried out in pointless denial as her arms curled to clutch his head against her chest.

“Oh, yes, you do,” he growled, “My shy little scientist wants to be seen—watched—”

He lifted her off him before she could deny it again, then turned her around and bent her over the edge of the futon facing the windows. Kit gasped as he thrust back into her from behind with one smooth, deep, hard stroke. His hand fisted her auburn hair gently, the other reaching around to rub tight circles on her clit.

The city lights sparkled in front of her, their reflection faintly visible in the glass as he pounded into her deeply, relentless and perfect.

“Anyone could be watching now, Katherine” he murmured hotly against her ear, voice rough. “Seeing you bent over and taking my cock…watching your big tits swing…seeing how well you’re getting fucked…”

Kit moaned shamelessly, pushing back to meet every stretching thrust. Her heavy breasts swayed beneath her, nipples brushing the sheets. The angle was devastating, his cock hitting that perfect spot over and over while his fingers worked her clit. She came again, harder, sobbing his name as her pussy clamped down like a vice, legs shaking so badly she would have collapsed if he wasn’t holding her up.

Arjun kept driving through it, grunting with every deep slam, until finally he pulled out at the last second. He stroked himself fast, groaning ruggedly as thick ropes of hot cum painted her back, her ass, dripping over the generous curves of her hips… Kit arched instinctively into the sensation, a soft, breathless moan slipping out as the viscous warmth slid over her skin. In her loopy, hypersensitive state, the filthy heat of him coming on her sent another slow pulse of pleasure through her body.

They collapsed together on the futon in the next instant, both panting, sweaty, and utterly spent. Arjun pulled her into his arms, kissing her forehead, her cheeks, her swollen lips with surprising tenderness.

“You were perfect,” he whispered, “So fucking perfect.”

She curled into his chest, mind blissfully quiet in a way she so rarely experienced. Her body felt like it was glowing, tender all over, thighs sticky, skin flushed and marked by his release. She fell asleep to the steady beat of his heart and the distant hum of the city…still watching them from outside that window.

Morning Variables

Soft morning light filtered through the room, painting golden stripes across the sheets and over Kit’s bare skin. She woke slowly, body heavy and deliciously sore in places she wasn’t used to being sore…at least not for such…pleasant reasons.

For a long moment she laid still, listening to the city waking up outside and the steady breathing of the man beside her.

Arjun was already awake, propped on one elbow, watching her with that same patient, appreciative gaze he’d worn all night. His dark hair was slightly mussed. The silver chain rested against his warm golden-brown chest. He looked unfairly good for someone who had spent half the night fucking her senseless.

“Morning,” he said, voice still rumbled in that soft accent. “How do you feel?”

Kit exhaled and her brain switched back on all at once.

“I… feel like I don’t know who I am this morning,” she said, cheeks flushing instantly.  “Which is statistically ridiculous, because identity is relatively stable over short periods of time, and one night of— of that— shouldn’t rearrange core personality markers,” she was pulling the sheet higher over her breasts, suddenly shy again now that the heat of the night had cooled. “But I woke up and my first coherent thought was I let a stranger do all of that to me in front of an open window, and then my second thought was the I liked it, so does that mean I have an exhibitionist kink or fetish? But probably I’d have  realized that before now and then my third thought was why am I already calculating the probability that you’ll—”

Arjun’s mouth curved in a small, warm smile and Kit managed to cut herself off.

“I’m sorry. I’m rambling. I do that when my brain is trying to process something it doesn’t have a prior model for.”

“You’re still you,” he said gently. “Just a version that finally let herself want something without having to analyze it.”

“Maybe not before hand,” Kit let out a short, embarrassed laugh and dragged a hand over her face. “Last night I didn’t. Not really. Not after a certain point. But this morning I’m already trying to reverse-engineer how that happened. You were… careful. Patient. You never made me feel like I was being pushed past a line I hadn’t already crossed myself. You just kept giving me space to keep saying ‘yes.’ And I kept saying ‘yes’ which is not like me, not that I’m ashamed. I’m not. I enjoyed everything. Every single minute. I’m just… surprised. At myself. At how easily I let you quiet all the noise in my head.”

Arjun didn’t interrupt. He simply listened, eyes soft, one hand resting lightly on the sheet over her hip. She glanced at him, then away again, cheeks still pink.

“I know it was temporary. I knew that last night. I’m not… expecting anything. I just needed to say it out loud so my brain stops trying to turn this into a data set I have to analyze for the next six weeks.”

Arjun reached over and brushed a strand of auburn hair behind her ear, the touch light and unhurried. “Do not be doubtful of who you are, whether you are analyzing the numbers, or enjoying…” his dark eyes cut towards the window and the city beyond, “…the view. You are an amazing woman, Kit, all versions of you.”

She hugged the sheet around her breasts, cheeks flushing more than if he had kissed her. She nodded, and dipped her head to hide a wide, sheepish smile.

Arjun nodded back, then rolled off the futon and stood, stretching his beautiful body. He found a pair of soft black pants, and pulled them on before offering her a clean T-shirt of his own. Kit slipped it on with a quiet, “thanks.” It hung large on her, the fabric soft against her sensitive skin, smelling faintly of sandalwood and him. She resisted the urge to bury her face in the fabric and sniff deeper.

“I have a shoot this afternoon, and more festival shooting tomorrow,” Arjun sat on the edge of the bed beside her and spoke with the same calm register he’d used the night before. “The day after that I am working a gallery opening most of the afternoon and night. After that I’m leaving the city.”

Kit nodded. The words landed exactly as she had expected them to. Still, something small and new twisted in her chest—not quite heartbreak, more like the quiet recognition that something rare had happened and would not happen again.

“I don’t make promises I can’t keep.” He met her eyes steadily, voice low and clear. “Last night was real. It was extraordinary. But—”

“You don’t have to manage me, Arjun, I understand,” she said with a soft smile. “But thank you, my mind does enjoy clear and defined parameters.”

He leaned in and kissed her once more, slow and lingering, but without heat this time. “I hope I am not the only person who quiets your mind, or who gets to see this amazingly sexy side of you.”

The conversation turned much lighter after that. Arjun offered the use of the shower, which she used for a quick rinse. After that, Kit gathered and put on the clothes she had worn the evening before, now slightly wrinkled and still carrying the faint scent of the festival. She’d have to take another shower at home before putting on something clean.

Goodbyes were brief and polite.

The early morning streets of Regent City were still quiet, washed in that pale light that came just before the city fully woke. Kit walked with her hands in her pockets, body pleasantly sore, the faint ache between her thighs a quiet reminder of everything that had happened only hours ago.

Everything looked the same. The same sidewalks. The same coffee shops not yet open. The same soft hum of distant traffic. Those realizations settled over her with unexpected relief. She was still Kit Brookes — scientist, overthinker, woman who preferred the clean logic of the lab to the messy uncertainty of other people. One night with a near-stranger hadn’t rewritten her. It hadn’t made her reckless or changed her fundamental nature. Of course it hadn’t. The cultural noise around casual sex had always struck her as statistically overblown anyway. Humans were a highly social, highly sexual species; recreational intimacy, when practiced with clear communication and mutual respect, carried measurable benefits; reduced stress hormones, increased oxytocin, improved sleep architecture, temporary elevation in mood and self-perception. The cultural stigma around it was largely inherited moral framing with little empirical support and had always struck her as statistically unsupported and vaguely Victorian. A single night of good sex was not a personality overhaul. It was a data point. A pleasant one.

She caught herself mid-spiral and almost smiled.

Enough.

Arjun had shown her something simpler the night before — how to stop analyzing the art and just feel it. The color. The texture. The way light moved across a surface. She could do that now, with the morning…and with herself.

Kit slowed her steps. Let the cool air touch her face. Noticed the way the light caught in the upper windows of the buildings. Felt the residual warmth still lingering low in her body, the soft, satisfied heaviness in her limbs. The afterglow didn’t need to be dissected. It only needed to be felt.

She walked on, quieter inside than she had been in a long time, and let the morning be enough.

Author’s Note:

Hyper Star was a superheroine I created for a short erotic peril writing contest held on Superheroine Erotica by perennial Bestie, the Porn Critic. At the time she was sort of meant to be one-note and generically heroic. After all I only had 5000 words to introduce her, get her captured, get her fucked, and then wrap things up. But it’s rarely that simple with me. After winning the contest (Yes, thank you thank you) I wrote another Hyper Star short story.
At that time, I was thinking I could present all my heroines in an individual format; Bombshell was my classic LJ novella series, Ener-G was going to be all full length self-contained novels, so Hyper Star could be the short story heroine. Of course, then the next time I tried to write a Hyper Star short it turned into a Spooky Season novella -not to mention Bombshell’s last two installments ballooning to full novel length, and Ener-G getting her own little novella because I just couldn’t wait to get back to Tropic City– But…I digress…
I’ve had a lot of fun writing this HHS short, and discovering Kit a little more. I’ve mentioned one of the things I wanted to do was to give Hyper Star a little more depth and development before we get to the big Perilverse crossover, and part of that was how much I was enjoying working on this.
So I hope you enjoyed it too, Besties, because you’re going to be seeing more Hyper Star very soon.
But, that’s all I got for you today, so I’m going to get back to my coffee and keyboard.

Take Care, Talk Soon,

Your bff, L J

This was a very pleasant read. Just a wholesome normal date with an ethnically ambiguous art dealer that ends in mind blowing sex. After Spider Mutants and Filth Demons I’m glad Hyperstar could enjoy the city she defends.

I really liked Kits characterization in this story. I don’t know if this was what you were going for but I really enjoyed her confidence in knowing herself. Like she felt flustered and anxious about the night but that seemed more to do with her putting herself in an unfamiliar situation and understanding about how people perceive her intelligence or her quiet nature and not because she thought she was plain looking (not once when Arjun was saying how beautiful she was did she try to deny it, which is nice deviation from most nerdy characters).

I really liked Arjun as well, just a cool guy. He might be my favorite male character introduced in these hot heroine summers series.

Well thank you for another fun story. With summer coming to a close I’m assuming this might be end of HHS for 2026. If so it was a great addition to the perverse and I’m looking forward to what comes next (especially if it’s something perilous in saint falls).
Stay blessed and enjoy the rest of your summer

I am so glad you enjoyed it this much! The way you describe the characterization is pretty much what I was going for, so it’s really exciting to read your take and see how it came through. I’m also excited you liked Arjun -Kinda crazy I love Cole (from Date Fight) and Arjun so much. Jords was fun too but in a different way. Summer is wrapping up, but I’ll say we’re not quite done with HHS just yet. Thank you thank you for sharing your thoughts and reading! Do enjoy the rest of your summer as well!

I think I enjoyed Arjun and to a lesser extent Cole as much as I did because they were kind. I think given the other male characters you right it helps them stand out tremendously.
I wanted to ask, with the growing list of major side characters/allies; have you considered making a page for them like you did with the heroines and villains.

I’m happy I was spot on with my analysis. Im looking forward to seeing how this more fleshed out characterization of Hyperstar plays out in her next adventure.

It’s good to know there is at least one more HHS in store. Will this be another misdirect like with The Scarlet dove or maybe a billionaire play date in Warden City.
Anyway take care and stay blessed

Hehe! No spoilers, you’ll just have to wait and be surprised!
Y’know that is an unintended side-effect of HHS that I’m really happy with: adding more good men to the Perilverse.

“One night with a near-stranger hadn’t rewritten her.”

The Lady doth protest too much, methinks.

I love Arjun, the way his cool confidence slowly and gently breaks down all Katherine’s barriers. I loved the way you showed Kit falling into analyzing everything until she was overwhelmed again and again by her response to Arjun. I never pictured you as Jane, girl genius, but you certainly managed to inhabit that character for this story, and then finally set loose that lusty inner slut we all love.

Katherine/Kit Brookes is one of my favorite of your heroines even though we haven’t seen her a lot. Great story. Very immersive. I was right there fondling Katherine’s tits as they bounced above me while she was riding my shaft. See what I mean? Definitely immersive.

    1. Lady Jane Avatar

I love to hear you were as immersed as I was by the end!
Thank you for your kind words, and your support as always. I’m excited to hear you like Kit so much, there’s definitely going to be more for her in the near, or at least semi-near future.

  3. […] Hyper Star relaunch as it progresses. But for now, a great companion piece to this story would be Kit’s Hot Heroine Summer outing. If Tangled Webs gives us introduction to Hyper Star, How to Seduce a Genius introduces to […]
