Welcome back to the Dangerotic blog, Besties. Just quick little WIP report today…that I’m writing at 9:18 on Friday morning. I wasn’t going to post today, but then I was like, “no, at least bang something out to keep the weekly momentum going.” So here we are…banging it out…

The main reason I didn’t have a more polished post this week is because I’ve been so immersed in working on one of the Claire’s Game installments.

I know I keep promising not to beat you guys over the head with my cucky/NTR/hotwife side-quest…but when it captures the muse’s attention like this, you gotta hear at least a little about it, right Besties?

The story I’ve been working on this week started out as a 10k word chunk which I broke off the massive mess of a “manuscript” I have for this series. I thought I was going to polish it up to include in an anthology collection of early date short stories. Now it’s just over a 20k word novella, because as I started working with it the muse went “Oh this is fun!” and went a little wild expanding and adding shit. What can I say, that flow felt fucking good. And in the muse’s defense, it should be a more pivotal moment than the 10k vignette it started out as.

See, the Claire’s Game series is about Claire (obvi) and her husband, Evan, discovering they enjoy a little light cucking, and then gradually escalating into full-blown hotwifing. The story I’ve been working on and expanding this week is Claire’s first actual date with another man. The first time she steps out to have drinks with a man who isn’t her husband, while Evan waits achingly at home. It’s definitely an escalation in their game that deserves more impact than a 10k vignette.

But even more than that, specifically, I need to—want to be following the muse a little more naturally.

Last week, for the 4th of July, I dropped the super secret surprise SHIP novella, The Scarlet Dove:INFERNO on y’all.

I was so excited and happy with this story. It came together quick and easy. I love visiting the Stewarts in Auburn Hills. The peril played in that “Going Harder” range I’m continuing to explore. Even the Villain Ending which got pretty intense for my kinks, I had a lot of fun writing.

I kind of hate to admit this, but it really made me realize just how much I was forcing Bombshell: Rost’s War. I don’t say that in a negative way, I don’t think Rost’s War feels “forced.” I’m still very proud of it and have not gotten any feedback to indicate if feels that way (thank you thank you, Besties!) And sometimes we need to “force” ourselves to finish a project. Writing isn’t all flow, fairy dust and inspiration…it often takes some focus, intention and perspiration. But damn, if Rost’s War didn’t take a lot more of the latter than the former. So, I’ve come to the realization that maybe that’s where the emotional recoil came from, more so than the content itself.

Sidenote: In case you missed it (which is fine) I have mentioned in several places how drained I felt after finishing Rost’s War.

While talking about the Hot Heroine Summer series, I’ve mentioned I needed something less perilous to work on because the “going harder” aspects of Rost’s War were so emotionally taxing. That may be a little true, but now I’m thinking it was more about the HHSS being more low stakes and fun, while I was putting a lot of pressure, effort and expectation on myself any time I sat down to work on Bombshell.

Maybe you’re all sitting there going: “well yeah, obviously Jane. We could see that.”

Maybe it’s unfair to really compare a 100k climactic novel to a sub-30k perilous romp.

Maybe several things can all be true at once.

So what’s the point? One point is that the more I recognize my patterns and struggles, I can hopefully continue to refine and improve my process. Another point is that often times when someone talks about their struggles and realizations, it can help other people recognize the same or similar in themselves, and maybe help to refine them as well.

Mainly, the point is I’m explaining why I’m letting the muse run wild for the time being, whether that means surprise Scarlet Dove SHIP; OR spending a week and half expanding a 10k vignette into a 20k novella in my cucky little side quest.

Okay, now let’s jump into the actual WIP Updates.

Hot Heroine Summer vol. 3 (actual this time): is being polished. I haven’t slopped any images to tease you with yet, but I will hint that it features one of my established heroines…whom several of you have mentioned wanting to get to know better.

Sidenote: Past this story, there are two more “official” HHS stories I have planned for this summer. One of which is partially written. These have thus far been breezy romps that I bang out in a pretty short window, so I have little worries in getting them completed.

Claire’s Game: What I have for this series currently; Book one (completed) is an anthology collection of what I’m calling cozy cuck vignettes. Book two (completed) is a novelette about the first time Claire and Evan “accidentally” escalate their game. Book three is the project I’ve discussed here, and it still needs a final chapter and lots of polish.

Sidenote: I have not decided how much of Claire’s game I want to have completed before I begin to share and publish it. So that’ll be a developing decision I’ll have to keep you updated on.

Perilverse Crossover: As I proposed in the last update, I have been working on this languidly in my back yard (the very few days it’s been tolerable to be outside anyway) with a glass of bourbon and notebook. I have scribbled out proper character profiles for the villains (oops, is that too much of a spoiler?). I’m incredibly eager to make this project exist…but I really don’t want to force it, or look back and feel like I did. So it’s probably the one I’m thinking most about when it comes to the above topic of discussion.

Other SHIP: Don’t worry, it’s not all cucking and hot heroines this summer. While I’m not going to put down anything like a timeline or schedule (for all the above stated reasons), I do have two more superheroine novella’s in my sights. I mentioned briefly how the Scarlet Dove was a sort of “proof of concept” for the style of shorter peril writing I want to focus on in the immediate future, well that story’s success has helped to solidify my visions for two more similar projects. So, I’ll be updating you further as those progress and take shape.

But I think that’s all I have for you today. Maybe this felt like a filler post, maybe it was a filler post…but right before the previous blog was shut down, I had planned and started to do monthly WIP reports for those of you who are interested in what I’m working on, my progress, my authorial journey, etc. etc. etc. It is definitely my plan to continue that with the new Dangerotica.com. Normally I plan for them to be the post for the first weekend of each month, but I had a holiday surprise for you all this month.

Please head on down to the comments with any questions or feedback y’all may have, I always love getting to engage with my Besties. Or of course, you can X me @dangerotica.

Next week: Part 2 of Bombshell issue 6: Rost’s War.
But now, it’s time I get back to my coffee and keyboard.
Take Care, Talk Soon,

Your bff, L J

The updates are appreciated, if not worrisome.

“Worrisome? What are you babbling about now, JD?”

I’m just worried that Claire’s cuckory will be fabulously well written and I’ll have no choice but to become obsessed with that project as well.

It’s nice to how much fun you’re having with The Claire Games.

The idea of multiple villains for the crossover got me thinking it will be like the justice league vs the legion of doom; but after a reread I’m starting to feel they may be new characters specifically for the crossover which would be dope.

Speaking about the crossover, have you ever consider starting with smaller crossover between heroine. Slowly setting the stage for a bigger event. Like maybe Miranda is hosting a charity/sponsorship in tropic city and finds some intergalactic trouble with a local surfer.

Thanks for the updates and looking forward to revisiting reagent city. Stay blessed

Thank you, I am having so much fun with Claire’s Game! And I love that you’re starting to speculate on the crossover… but I’m going to keep pretty tight lipped on my plans for now, but please do continue to speculate.
I haven’t give a ton of thought to doing smaller scale crossovers with my heroines until after the crossover. Partly because I want the crossover to be the first time any of them are meeting. I do think there will be more (smaller) crossovers after the big one though.
      Thank you thank you!
